about

I’ve been playing this song at gigs for quite a while and I feel like it connects with people more than any other of my songs and I appreciate people coming to talk to me about it afterwards.
The song was written for a friend who had been struggling with their mental health and was a way to help me process it and to let them know I was there for them.
As a songwriter and performer my utmost endeavour is to connect with people through my songs, I am so pleased that this song appears to have resonated with people at my gigs and I really hope that it can continue to do so through this recording.
Big thank you to those of you who continue to support my music making and the encouraging comments, it really does mean a lot.

lyrics

I will hold your hand,
I will try to understand
But I don't know what you're going through
But you can rest assured I'll be here for you

If I could walk in your shoes
and tread the path instead of you
maybe I would understand
and could share the journey hand in hand

But how my heart is heavy for you now
as arms are reaching out
and how can I take your pain away
I don't have the words to say
but this is not, this is not the end

The walls outside your fragile skin
have stopped the sunlight coming in
but there's a light I've seen within
that can lead you home make you whole again

But how my heart is heavy for you now
as arms are reaching out
and how can I take your pain away
I don't have the words to say
but this is not, this is not the end

Who you want to be is only hidden underneath
so if the world's still turning and if you're still breathing
then don't hide your light
you are worth the fight.
